Care Instructions

Congratulations on your new resurfacing.   With proper care, your newly resurfaced fixture will give you many years of use.   Please review these care instructions in order to get the most use out of your new surface.

First Things First

Do not get your fixture wet or use it for 24 hours after its been sprayed.
If you have had countertops refinished, do not place any heavy objects such as microwaves, mixers, or toaster ovens on your countertop for 3 days.  These items may cause indentations in the coating if placed on the surface during this 3 day period.  If caulking has been applied, be sure the caulking is dry before use.
Your fixture was resurfaced with the most durable products available today, and great care was taken to ensure a high quality finish.  This finish, however, is NOT Bulletproof and proper care is important in order to maintain the integrity of the finish.  No refinishing will create a ‘perfect’ finish, but CHOICE Resurfacing’s techniques which include buffing and polishing usually eliminate 90% of dust particles that settled into the finish while it’s drying.   If there are any remaining specks of dust or mild imperfections, please do not ‘pick’ at them as this may actually damage the finish and is not covered under warranty.  Normal use and cleaning will usually eliminate any remaining specks over time.
Do not leave cans or wet cloths on the surface for extended periods of time.  Do not drop or drag objects across the surface as this may scratch or damage the finish.  Do not use compounds such as drain cleaners, tile grout cleaners, or other harsh chemicals.   Do not cut on countertops that have been refinished – please use a cutting board.  Please maintain your plumbing fixtures.  The Grand Canyon was made by running water,  leaky faucets will erode your new finish causing it to prematurely wear out or crack.  Repair leaky fixtures as soon as possible.  Damage from leaky faucets is not covered under warranty.

Routine Cleaning

Use only non-abrasive, liquid cleaners on your refinished surface.  The use of specialty cleaners designed for refinished surfaces such as spray cleaners Formula 409, Lysol Tub & Tile, or any liquid cleanser that does not contain abrasives, bleach, or chlorine may be used.  For best results, spray the surface and let it penetrate for 3-5 minutes before wiping.  Do not allow cleaners to remain on surface for an extended period of time, or use cleaners designed to be sprayed on and left overnight.  For additional cleaning power we recommend the use of nylon body scrubbers or soft bristle brush designed for use on Teflon surfaces.  Do not use any abrasive scrubbing pads such as “SCOTCHBRITE”, or any similar type scrubbing pads as these may scratch or dull the finish.

Stubborn Stains

If absolutely needed,  Soft Gels such as Soft Scrub may be used with plastic scrub pads suitable for Teflon surfaces.  On bathroom surfaces, foaming cleansers may be allowed to sit on the surface for a few minutes before wiping off.  The use of any abrasives may dull the finish on your surface, so you should use caution when using any abrasive cleaners.  Damage done by abrasive cleaners is not covered under warranty.  Avoid the use of hair dyes or other chemical dyes as they will permanently stain your surface and this staining is not covered under your warranty.
Maintain the integrity of your caulking by cleaning on a regular basis and replacing as needed.  Caulking is not warranted.  Do not use bathmats that have suction cups on the bottom and do not leave any type of bathmat on the surface for an extended period of time.  The trapped moisture could degrade the surface over time and any failures as a result are not covered under your warranty.

For best results, wipe down wet surfaces after using, especially those areas where water may pool up.  This is especially important for those homes that have ‘hard’ water or high mineral content.  Water that is left to evaporate leaves these minerals behind and once dried they become extremely difficult to remove without damaging the surface.

6 Month Maintenance

You can extend the life and beauty of your new surface by applying polymer based polishes and waxes, suitable for automotive and furniture pieces, every 6 months.  Use caution when applying waxes as surfaces can become slippery and dangerous especially in a bathtub or shower.

Slip Resistant Surfaces

Slip Resistant Surfaces are more textured and therefore more susceptible to becoming dirty.  Spray a liquid cleaner on the surface and let it set for 3-5 minutes.  You can agitate the area by using a very soft nylon bristle brush and then rinse with water.  Do not over scrub or you will damage the Slip Resistant Surface.  The installation of a Slip Resistant Surface does not guarantee that you will not fall.  Please use caution when entering or exiting the areas.  We are not responsible for falls, accidents or injuries resulting from such incidents.
